Poem 16

Commander Fluffy reporting for duty.
Light as itself.
Omen of many things.
Under the rainbow.
Divan of the gods.

Poem 15

Salty riverlets.
Undulating desert snakes.
No relief.

Poem 14

Men walked here, según.
O-shaped aliens, sleeping in craters.
Orion uses it as a stress ball.
Nymphs and fawns dance naughtily under its halo.

Poem 13

Poem 11

First Date Haiku
Who am I this time?
Stars and trees, rerun indeed.
Again a whirlwind.

Poem 10

Elderly Speech Therapist in Mexico.
When Barb died I didn’t know how to stay,
Looking every night at an achingly empty armchair.
Every step here is a step away from memories,
Ghosts that stroke my cheek with feathery fingers
And leave perfume in clothes washed ten times.

Poem 9

Drunk Bus
-Hey man, why you throwin’ bottles?
--Ju wanna fight? I fight ju!
Nervous laughter.
-Oye, seriously man, put that crap in the can.
--I keel your face with my feests!
Avoid looking anyone directly in the face.
-Are you girls writing down the complaint line?
--Ey hey hey hey!
Get off bus, never call.

Poem 8

Bee
Oh dear little bee
The world is full of flowers.
Dots just will not do.

In a world so big
One has stripes like yours.
And yellows as bright.

Poem 6

Taxi Man

Gal, do you know
You look just like my daughter?
She's a little shorter than you
But you're the spitting image!
Her hair is much darker and her eyes are green, but
Oh! It's like looking at her twin sister!
Granted, she's got more of a classic style and she stands up much straighter and she doesn't purse her lips like that...
OO! Don't you guys look just the same!
Here we are, I'd show you a picture if you weren't in such a hurry.
Except for the glasses, you'd swear you were looking into a mirror.

Poem 5

Baby Ensign

Last June when I wasn’t there
Leah had a party with a piñata,
A periwinkle party dress and anklets with eyelets.
I see it in the background of the polaroid
She snuck in with the weekly letter,
A sticky, peanut-butter fingerprint next to her face:
Wet hair braided back so tight her eyes look watery,
So excited it looks like her smile might pop her cheeks.
“It was a big hit, “ her mother had written at the time.
Now, printed in lovely, hard-won block letters on a
Note attached to the back I read, “This year I’m getting a
Moon bounce my birthday is in two months what will you bring me?”
Diesel smell and pearl earrings. fair winds and following seas.

Poem 3

Bus Driver
Golden lines chase black lines across the hills.
Cloud rabbits and geese flash bigger smaller bigger smaller
As they play cat-and-mouse in valleys and on ridges.
Blip blip blip go the wheels and dip dip dip goes the road
And skip skip skip goes my belly.

Black lines chase golden lines across the hills.
The passengers close the shades against windswept shades
As they play peek-a-boo behind roadside bushes.
Skit skit skit go the branches and whit whit whit goes the wind
And pit pit pit goes my heart.

Poems 1 and 2

Back from vacation in Mexico City with pommes and poems!

Museum guard in front of Diego Rivera painting
Radishes cum lovers with pendulous breasts
And impossibly erect penises for 6 hours a day.
I can’t look at food normally anymore.
Betabel Limón Naranja Aguacate Elote Espinaca Ajo
Mix together in fruit bowl erotica.
Skin against skin, flesh against flesh, seeds, juices.
My wife says I must request a transfer.

Party Girl
Layer one:
Skin-colored tights, push-up bra, foundation:
To give things proper shape/color.
Layer two:
Shapeless jean skirt, oversized blouse:
To (constantly) expose breasts but hide belly.
Layer three:
Knee-high boots and leather jacket:
To hide legs and carry for show.
Layer four:
Vapid expression and air of superiority:
To hide lack of intelligence/empathy.
